Rebar Weight Calculator
Select a rebar diameter, enter the required cut length and quantity, then choose the stock length to estimate order bars, total weight and scrap.
Rebar Weight Calculator
How the rebar weight calculation works
The calculator uses the selected bar's unit mass in kg/m. Each stock bar is divided into equal cuts by the use length; order quantity is rounded up to whole stock bars. Leave inputs blank until you have project measurements.
How rebar order weight is calculated
Cuts per stock bar = floor(stock length ÷ use length). Order quantity = ceiling(required bars ÷ cuts per stock bar). Order weight = unit mass × stock length × order quantity.
Scrap weight is the difference between the ordered stock weight and the required cut weight. The loss rate is scrap weight ÷ order weight × 100.
Unit weight by rebar diameter
D-size unit masses are shown in kg/m so the result stays traceable to the selected diameter. Confirm the bar grade, standard and supplier table when your project specifies a different product.

What this estimate does not include
This page does not create a bar bending schedule or optimize cuts across different diameters. Bends, hooks, laps, couplers, chairs, splice rules, mill tolerances and delivery minimums can change the order.
Use the result for a first quantity check, then confirm the final takeoff with the approved reinforcement drawings and supplier.
FAQ
What is rebar unit weight?
It is the mass of one metre of a selected rebar diameter, expressed here in kg/m. Multiply it by the ordered stock length and number of bars to estimate order weight.
What does stock length mean?
Stock length is the length of each bar supplied by the mill or supplier, such as 6 m. It determines how many required cut pieces can be taken from one bar.
Can I order rebar from this result alone?
No. Confirm the approved bar schedule, bends, hooks, laps, couplers, required grade, stock availability and site tolerances before placing an order.
